Nerissa Walkup, MS, LPC, NCC
Nerissa Walkup is a licensed profesional counselor who became a Philadelphia resident after moving from Virginia. She has experience working in inpatient psychiatric units as well in the outpatient setting. She approaches therapy with curiosity and encourages clients to do the same. Nerissa works to journey alongside clients in their exploration of themselves, helping them understand more deeply some of the experiences that have shaped them, and to walk with clients towards wholeness. Nerissa currently runs the Center City, Philadelphia adult mental health IOP. For individual clients, she works primarily with 20-40 year old adults who are wanting to heal from past trauma, find relief from anxiety and depression, or who want to process experiences related to spirituality.
Whatever the goals of the individual, Nerissa seeks to help clients feel safe with their emotions, in their own body, and to feel empowered; all while learning to be kind and compassionate with themselves in processing the experiences that have made them who they are today – the painful and the beautiful. She believes in the work of therapy as a means of finding healing and wholeness.
When she isn’t working, Nerissa finds rest doing almost anything in the outdoors, bouldering at the rock-climbing gym, and sharing family-style meals with her friends.
