"Providing a secure space to understand trauma and what is needed for healing and thriving!"
Who's appropriate?
The Trauma-Specific IOP program is for those who are currently experiencing trauma-related symptoms related to distressing or traumatic life events, recently or in the past, and struggling with the impacts on life today. Individuals in this program are motivated to address the root of their symptoms, and heal fully from their past.
Trauma-Specific IOP Groups:
- Adolescent (ages 14-18)
- Adult Complex Trauma (ages 18+)
- Adult Trauma (ages 18+)
Trauma-Informed IOP Groups:
- LGBTQIA+
- Women's Only
What is EMDR?
The primary approach utilized for treatment in the trauma-specific IOP's is EMDR, provided by an EMDR certified therapist. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a form of therapy that helps people heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences. EMDR has been extensively researched and has demonstrated effectiveness for trauma. EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue, or homework between sessions. EMDR allows the brain to resume its natural healing process. The therapist will utilize this treatment modality, in addition to other evidence-based approaches.
What is the group like?
The trauma-specific IOP groups have a maximum of 6 members at a time. The adolescent and adult trauma groups are 8-weeks in duration and most are closed-groups, meaning that the participants are the same for the duration of the group. The group meets 3 days a week for 2 1/4 hours in a group setting, with one individual session with the therapist per week. This format allows for a secure space to better understand and further process your trauma.
