Karen Snyder, Mental Health Counselor

Karen Snyder is a Master’s level clinician who graduated from Capella University with a degree in Clinical Mental Health.  Prior to her graduate studies at Capella, Karen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Marywood University and a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Theology from St. Joseph’s College.

Karen brings extensive life experience from working in a financial setting for 25 years before pursuing her second career in mental health.  Since 2023, Karen has worked with children, adolescents, and adults at The Peacemaker Center in Downingtown to help them navigate various mental health challenges, such as depression, anxiety, work-related stress, and finding a more sustainable work-life balance.  Karen combines her non-clinical experiences with solid education and training in the mental health field to offer a well-rounded perspective.  She also enjoys working with clients who wish to incorporate the role of spirituality and faith in their mental health journey.  She takes a person-centered approach and is committed to building a warm and trusting therapeutic bond with her clients.  Karen is committed to empowering clients by focusing on their strengths while encouraging them to visualize new choices and ways of being in the world.  Using an attachment-based lens to uncover patterns of trauma-based behaviors, Karen helps clients using a variety of modalities including CBT, DBT, EMDR, and creative arts.  She believes in the healing power of fiber arts (knitting, crocheting) to soothe body and soul, and is willing to teach these skills to interested clients.

In her free time, Karen enjoys spending time with her husband and family, which includes four rescue dogs and two cats.  She loves to walk, read, knit and quilt.
