Who is appropriate?

It is tough seeing your loved one struggling with their mental health journey when all you want to do is "fix it." This program is for any parent or guardian looking for guidance on how to better support their child (no matter what age) when there are maybe no easy answers. Whether you are looking for one on one or group support, you have found the right place!

What can you expect?

With this program, you can expect to gain a deeper understanding of mental health-related concerns and how they may affect your loved ones. You will learn to cultivate stronger, more supportive relationships with your loved one and gain strategies for building trust and connection and enhance communication.

Program Details

Our Family Empowerment Program has both an individual and group option. This program is open to the public with a group option offered on the last Wednesday of each month. The group runs from 6-7:30pm. In order to enter the group, you must first connect with our family specialist to see if individual or group (or both) is the best fit for you! Carol Rothera Adult OP Therapist in Exton

Carol Rothera is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and has a Master of Science in Counseling. She has certifications in school counseling K-12th and pupil services supervision. She has 30 years experience working with children and their families.

Carol started her career as a school counselor and then a crisis counselor. She has taught in the counselor education department, at the graduate level, for 21 years.

Carol has an eclectic approach to treatment  After a strong rapport is built she pulls from cognitive behavioral and solution focused interventions in addition to motivational interview techniques.

Carol enjoys just about anything outdoors. Her favorite hobby is walking her dog, on the beach, in the early morning.
