Allison Whitmore, Licensed Professional Counselor

Allison Whitmore is a licensed professional counselor, Master’s Level therapist, soon to be, who graduated from Temple University. Along with being a therapist, Allison is a registered yoga teacher and Reiki practitioner. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology, Spanish, and Political Science from Bloomsburg University. She is currently leading the DBT Intensive Outpatient Mental Health program.

Allison has experience working with a wide range of individuals in various mental health settings. She has worked with those in recovery from substances as well as with individuals struggling with life transitions. She specializes in treating clients who identify with Borderline personality disorder, anxiety, depression, grief, and suicidal ideation. Allison works from a relational foundation and utilizes an integration of mindfulness and dialectical behavior therapy to help clients find a balanced way of living that suits them. She provides clients with an understanding, compassionate space to engage in personal growth and to build trust within the self.

Allison takes a holistic approach in her work with clients. She recognizes the connection between mind, body, and spirit. She firmly believes in the power of self-reflection and building on our strengths. Her favorite part of working in the field is helping clients find their inner wise mind and integrate both what they know and feel into their present moment decisions.

Allison likes to practice what she teaches clients and recognizes being human is not easy. She is a firm believer in finding creative outlets. Outside of running IOP groups and private practice, Allison enjoys nature, kickboxing, paint by numbers, reading, practicing yoga, and spending time with her wonderful dog Athena.
