"Learn to be more present, learn to manage emotional shifts and communicate assertively!"
Who's appropriate?
This program was designed for:
- Individuals who may have attended IOP previously, or a higher level of care, on multiple occasions.
- Individuals who struggle with managing and regulating their emotions.
- Those who struggle with skill application and consistency,
- Or anyone who is interested in DBT therapy, a structured program of therapy and psycho-social educational component which includes a practice of mindfulness and acceptance.
What can you expect?
The DBT IOP groups have a maximum of 6 members at a time. The are 8 weeks in duration and are closed groups, meaning that the participants are the same for the duration of the group. The group meets 3 days a week for 2 1/4 hours in a group setting, with one individual session with the therapist per week. This format allows for a secure space to address and process individual concerns and circumstances.
What is DBT?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy is a cognitive-behavioral treatment developed by Marsha Linehan, PhD. This type of approach focuses on four main areas: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. The word dialectical describes the strain between two opposing forces or ideas. In Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), we work to embrace seemingly opposite ideas (maybe our emotions and logic) to create meaningful change toward thriving!
