Kitty McQuaid
You know those therapists who just stare at you and nod in between long periods of silence? I’m sure that’s a technique… but that’s not me. I’m Kitty, and my approach is active, structured, and full of practical learning. That’s why my focus is Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. DBT is a therapy that’s more about building skills than sitting in silence, and the group format is designed so that no one person dominates the session. Everyone has a chance to learn, practice, and grow together.
Whether you’ve spent years feeling dysregulated or you’ve just recently found yourself stuck in overwhelming emotions, DBT offers a way forward. These skills can help you learn to regulate emotions, build stronger relationships, and stay more present in your daily life.
In group with me, you’ll not only learn the skills to support a values-driven life—you’ll practice applying them to your own situations, receive feedback from me, and hear perspectives from peers who are working on similar challenges.
Why should you care? Because DBT skills give you the tools to take ownership of what you can control, while learning to accept and tolerate difficult situations you can’t control without making things worse.
Past group members have commented, “Why don’t they teach this stuff in school?” I wish I knew. When you can fully embrace and use the skills you’ll learn through in our DBT group, you take charge of your own well-being. The sooner, the better. Give me a call and let’s get you started!
