Struggling with navigating life and understanding yourself and your own reactions or emotions after traumatic experiences or events?
Hi, I'm Savanna, and I'm a licensed clinical counseling associate. This means I look at how your experiences, environment, and relationships affect your well-being and ability to function on a daily basis.
In my group, you will learn techniques and information that will help you better understand your own experiences, give yourself and your body what it needs to live life, and engage with skills that will increase your inner peace and calmness. In group and individual sessions, we will use multiple therapeutic techniques to build these skills and understanding.
The main modality I utilize is EMDR, which is one of the leading ways to treat trauma. It helps by reprocessing and decreasing distress after traumatic events. This modality focuses on how your brain reacts to traumatic events and how we can create change, not only at behavioral and emotional levels, but also at a biological level.
This may sound really heavy and intimidating, but I assure you that healing and trauma work is so much more than talking about your experience. In my group, I value connection, humor, and safety, which helps us create meaningful relationships that promote healing and growth. This might look like talking about special interests, random pieces of information we know, or even our favorite shows, movies, books, and hobbies.a
