I would like to start off by giving you credit for taking this first step. Deciding to make the commitment to begin group therapy isn't necessarily an easy decision to make, and I'd really like to recognize and validate that experience for you. Exploring this bio tells me that you are curious about discovering new supports and learning coping skills to help you manage life's stressors.
My name is Samantha, and I'm a practicing licensed professional art therapist. I’m an advocate for utilizing the creative process to promote healing, process emotions, and foster personal growth. I also believe that everyone's experience is unique, and I thrive on my ability to support you while using both verbal and nonverbal forms of communication.
In my group, you'll learn techniques that can be supportive, informative, and fun! We'll spend time with mindfulness, breathing exercises, and grounding techniques; all of which can assist in increasing your awareness and presence in the here-and-now. These techniques can also offer you a safe way to cope with symptoms and emotions in the present moment. You will experience being in a supportive environment and have an opportunity to learn from others while fostering a sense of mutual support and validation. We celebrate each other's successes and encourage a culture of support.
