Summer Alonso, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Summer Alonso has been working in health care for over 25 years, has been a Registered Nurse since 2009, and is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Across the Lifespan. She understands that people are individuals with unique needs and experiences, specific learning styles, and the importance of providing education including about mental health, health and wellness, diagnoses and the related signs symptoms, treatment options, and other information that is crucial to helping individuals to have care outcomes that are understandable, applicable, promote wellness, and avoid symptom regression. Summer is trained and skilled in multi-modal therapeutic approaches, pharmacology, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenetics, and advanced clinical assessments which are holistic, person-centered, and created with dignity and respect together with the individual receiving care. Summer cares about all people and their wellness and dedicates her life in the service of her community to provide high-quality access to care.  Summer Alonso has experience treating patients in a variety of settings as well as experience as a medical director; director of a psychiatric emergency room; director of an acute care center; director of clinical operations; director of a partial hospital program; director of admissions, social work, nursing, utilization review, and care management departments; care provision across the psychiatric and substance use disorder treatment settings including: inpatient, outpatient, partial hospital program, intensive outpatient program, residential treatment, and MAT levels of care.

Summer works primarily with adults and adolescents with a variety of psychiatric and substance use disorders and values the importance of authentic and honest care relationships which include trusting relationships, supporting individuals to identify and achieve their treatment goals, continuously assessing and monitoring individuals receiving care, identifying areas of progress and symptom reduction and factors that supported the improvements, and identifying and getting to the root cause of barriers to goal achievement as well as addressing these with options that are patient-centered to help to remove any barriers to an individual's growth and living their best life as defined by the person receiving care.
