Kat Thompson, Adult PHP Therapist

Kat is an individual and group therapist within the PHP program at Sanare Today. She brings 8 years of experience helping clients with a variety of backgrounds reach their mental health goals within the outpatient setting. She received her bachelor's degree in Social Work from Salisbury University and Masters of Social Work from the University of Maryland Baltimore. She has experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, dissociation and substance abuse through a trauma informed lens. She is passionate about working with LGBGTQ-IA individuals, women, and young adults (18+).

Kat provides individual and group therapy rooted in mindfulness and a client centered approach. She recognizes your inner expertise and will work with you towards your goals at a pace that feels comfortable to you. She pulls from numerous modalities including Parts Work, Mindfulness, ACT, DBT and EMDR based on the needs of her clients at the moment. She recognizes the importance of creating a familiar, comfortable relationship when establishing therapy, which is why she always prioritizes building a connection and trust first. Kat uses a warm, upbeat and accepting approach to put her clients at ease while we learn to sit with, lean in and move through whatever may have brought you into the therapy room.

In her spare time Kat likes to read, spend time in nature, play board games, and hang out with her pets.
