Dr. Kate Background & Education

Dr. Kate Henry obtained her naturopathic medical degree from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington and still maintains a license as a primary care provider in Washington state. During her schooling she also pursued advanced training in biofeedback and orthomolecular approaches in psychiatry so that she could teach her clients to use advanced techniques in breathwork and nutrition to heal their mental health issues from the inside out.

Dr. Kate is trained in Complementary and Alternative treatment approaches for Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis using Dr. Laurie K. Mischley’s approach, which emphasizes nutrition and lifestyle factors in slowing progression in neurodegenerative disorders. Additionally, Dr. Kate is an Amen Clinic’s Certified Practitioner and shadowed at the Amen Clinics in Bellevue prior to graduating with her naturopathic medical degree so that she could learn about the use of SPECT imaging, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, EEG and nutrition in psychiatry. During school, Dr. Kate shadowed the late Dr. Philip Bonnet, one of the original orthomolecular psychiatrists who began practice under Dr. Carl Pfeiffer. She continues to pursue accelerated training in complementary nutritional and functional medicine approaches in psychiatry.

Dr. Kate’s passion is to help people who feel “stuck” to identify and remove the barriers that hold them back from true healing. Sometimes this is an undiagnosed nutrient deficiency, allergy, sleep issue or misdiagnosed health condition. It’s Dr. Kate’s mission to do the clinical detective work that it takes to find each client's true “root cause” of their illness, so that they can heal in an effective, targeted, affordable and sustainable way once and for all.

Dr. Kate also believes that healing should be fun and easy. This is why each client’s plan is tailored to include foods they like, lifestyle changes they’ll actually enjoy, and a wide variety of healing tools to choose from that play to a client’s strengths. To this end, Dr. Kate regularly continues to study advanced in motivational interviewing, therapeutic listening and mindfulness so that the client always knows and feels that they’re in the driver’s seat of their care.

Dr. Kate Outside the Office

Dr. Kate practices what she preaches in terms of living a healthy and resilient lifestyle outside of work. She’s dedicated to moving well, staying strong, experiencing joy, being creative and cooking good food when she’s not with her clients or catching up on the latest audiobook, podcast or journal article about functional medicine. Kate loves the outdoors and her family, and recently started learning to play the drums in her free time. She’s a secret lover of bad jokes, dairy-free ice cream, and boldly brewed coffee, and wants clients to know that they never need to be afraid she’ll make them give up treats or caffeine as part of their healing plan. Dr. Kate also has a special place in her heart for kinship and foster care families, children and youth impacted by the juvenile justice system, and victims of domestic violence. In her spare time, she volunteers with organizations in the community that help these populations to heal using support beyond what medical care can provide.
